marine corps marathon..


WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA)--Some 22 thousand runners of all ages set off this morning on the 33rd Marine Corps Marathon.

The new 26.2 mile course takes runners from the Pentagon, through Rosslyn, along Lee Highway to Spout Run and then down to the George Washington Parkway.

The runners then cross the Key Bridge, run through Georgetown, the Palisades, on to the Kennedy Center, Hains Point, the Mall and the monuments and ending at the Marine Corps War Memorial.

The first runners crossed the finish line after 10am while the last runners will need to finish by 3:30pm when the course closes.
